Why do we have these video cameras on our bus?
I’m 13, and I usually ride the bus to school. We got a new bus recently, and it has video cameras on it. One in the front, and one in the back. They really creep me out. I feel even more paranoid than usual. Except there is actually someone watching now… I’ve considered stopping riding the bus because of them… But why did they put the cameras on the bus?
Don’t worry I felt like that when my school got video cameras. It’s just for safety reasons, like is people get in fights or anything like that or if someone does something bad then the bus driver (or any other person really) will have proof. And again, just for safety reasons in general.

because there have been incidents in the past with fights on buses and bus drivers assaulting kids on bus’. i assure you its for your own safety. noone sits there and watches the tape all day. the only time they view it is if something happens like your bus crashes or a fight breaks out. im a security guard, i should know.

violence, drugs, sexual harrassment or sexual activity in general…numerous reasons. Did you see the story about a year ago about the bus driver and a student getting into a fist fight? The cameras are very important and are for your safety =) they should make you feel good. If anything happens there is a video to prove it.

its just a safety reason all the buses have them some buses like mine don’t turn the camera on

The cameras on the bus are for proof of any incident that may happen on the bus. Fight, vandalism, drug use, language issues.
The tapes are reviewed only if there is an incident and only by authorities and proper school officials.
They can also be a good thing. My wife is a bus driver and an automobile driver stated that someone threw a soda bottle out one of her windows at their car. Come to find out after reviewing the tape, didn’t happen. The driver of the car was just trying to get the school to pay for a busted windshield.
So they are there to protect you from harm and also to protect you from false accusations.
