Kendo in High Speed Camera(Slow Motion)
This Kendo clip is from Japan Public Broadcasting’s documentary on ” A Human’s reaction ablitiy”.The show includeded a short track start,Pro Baseball batter and Light weight Boxcer as well.
Interest thing about the show was that former studies suggested that Human
can not react no faster than 0.2 second limted bb the speed of electric pulse running through eye - frontal cortex brain - the body muscle..But, new sport analysis studis found
some athletes could react in less than 0.2 second.
Mr. Tanakanabe had much better reactive ability than Mr. Teramoto’s. But,
he could not catch up Teramoto’s Men already released before his.
Takanabe mentioned in his interview later that” He froze for a moment when
Teramoto change his move from aiming DO to MEM”. This split second frozen
moment made his defeat. The narration concluded the segment stating that
” Takanabe won in reactive superiority, but Teramoto won in Kendo”.

If people really …
If people really fought with swords the way they do kendo as a sport there wouldn’t really be a victor. There is very little defense if any. If both opponents end up with blades lodged in their skulls who really wins? It is good that this is just sport and not a real battle.

Kendo is a sport, …
Kendo is a sport, yes, but it’s a martial sport, so to speak. And on spiritual and physical level, the training isn’t any less harsher than that of a warlike martial artist. Kendo focuses on the tradition, “way of the sword”, instead of the rude and straightforward technique of real, battle oriented swordsmanship. I practice European fencing, and while Japanese way of thinking doesn’t appeal to me, it’s stupid not to respect kendokas and their prowess. It’s their way, and it’s not easy.

I’m sorry, but …
I’m sorry, but you’ve got no idea what you’re watching. These guys are moving fast with a huge amount of precision and coordination, and the scoring points are clean. The only “fumbly” bits are when the combatants are trying to knock each other’s shinai off-center to open them up for an attack.

its probably best …
its probably best described as wrist. because arm can be above the elbow as well. i also know all the valid spots to score a ippon, i am a kendoka myself. but thanks for trying to explain it to me, and im sorry i wasted your time while you were trying to explain it to me. ^^

(read the bottom of …
(read the bottom of this one frist) ever you want you have to have precision it has to be in a certain power if it’s sloppy then it won’t count also there is a string on the bamboo blade (shinai) called the tsuru and if you look at an ordanary katana there’s flat end and the tsuru indicate that flat egde so the tsuru all ways have to be on top of where you hit like you hit the left side of the torso your tsuru have to be facing the left
September 10th, 2009 at 10:50 am
well it’s more like …
well it’s more like the wrist if you see they’re waring the gloves that where you hit but NOT THE HAND i guest it’s like the lower part of your arm but you can’t it it like under where you see the laces where they tied the gloves and that’ll be called the kote for the Do or torso you want to hit on the SIDE where your friend or you family like to tickle you at that spot for the men or head you have to strike directly above thier head also in order for it to be a point you can’t just strike where
