What Do you prefer, a cell phone with GPS or a separate portable GPS for your car?

I would like to get a gps, I drive alot. Both seem to have fee's that come along with them for updating the maps. Wondering what the pro's and con's of each are? LIke, is the phone's smaller screen going to show good pics of where you are? I want it to talk to me too, so I don't have to look all the time. Does one sound better than the other? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

A separate GPS for your car is the way to go! That way you can have use of your cell phone for calls while you are driving. I have a nuvi garman, and I love it!! It does talk to you and it's so easy to use! You can buy it at walmart for about $130-$140. It also comes with a car charger. Hope this helps in your decision! :)

I use my phone GPS and it works just fine for me. It talks and seems to do everything that a car GPS does. I can browse for restaurants, stores, and attractions, or type in a specific address if need be. You can also save your favorite/frequent destinations. It also gives you traffic info and movie times.

My GPS application doesn't have pictures of the destinations, but I find that I don't need them anyways. The map it provides is clean and simple enough to figure out where you are.

My only problem is that typing in the addresses is a bit cumbersome, especially since I don't have a full keyboard. It may be a little tricky figuring out the interface too. The advantage I see to having a car GPS is… well, the convenience. I imagine it's much nicer and more comfortable to have controls built specifically for the GPS and to have a larger surface area to do whatever you need to do.

If you drive to a lot of new places, it may be worth it to invest in a car GPS. I would definitely try out some of the models on display in Best Buy or look into reviews on cnet.com
