If you’re not a …
If you’re not a gamer I’m not sure this title is particularly well-suited for your purposes. Despite the sweet visual style, the gameplay is comparatively advanced and the game is part of a series intended for very experienced gamers.

Although I don’t know much about it, I do believe there are some simpler PC games specifically designed for teaching basics of the Japanese language (and there’s also the Nintendo DS title “My Japanese Coach”, although I’ve heard it’s unfortunalety rather bad).

Demiath. I’m learning Japanese. I’d like to play the English version until I’m familiar with the game play (remember, I’m not a gamer), and then switch to Japanese, for the language challenge. Looks like I’d have to buy two copies of the game, one of them an expensive import.

Yes, that’s correct …
Yes, that’s correct: the English version will only have English text.

There are quite a few translated games in which the player can choose between English and Japanese voices, but very few include the option to switch between English and Japanese text (at least among the games released in Western countries).

Please forgive the newb question…I’m not a gamer.

The Japanese version has Japanese text only, and the English version will have English only, correct?

Are there similar titles that have both English and Japanese? I’m not looking for a list, just wondering if there are any to be found.

The sound quality …
The sound quality in the video is pretty much the same as in the game itself (the frame rate, however, is far from perfect). It’s not particularly difficult to record this game.
