How to empty an ipod while keeping my purchased songs on i tune?

I have a ipod touch and i am planning to sell it. The problem is that i want to give the buyer an empty ipod, but i still want to keep my songs so i can put it in to my new ipod. Is that possible? Thanks ;)
Yes, it is possible.

Connect your iPod Touch to iTunes. Click on the ‘******’s iPod’ tab. There should be a ‘Restore’ button on that page. Click on this button. Doing so will erase all your data from that iPod Touch.

It is definitely possible. Connect your iPod to your computer and click File > Transfer Purchases from iPod.

Then, to erase everything, click on the iPod in the left-hand column and choose "Restore."

    It’s as simple as that.

If it doesn’t work, however, use CopyTrans (http://www.copytrans.net/). It’s a free program and it does EVERYTHING iTunes doesn’t.
