I am a freshman in high school. I currently do web design (i.e. HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Flash, etc.). I have been introduced to Visual Basic, and Java. I want to skip ahead for now and learn about creating applications (apps) for mobile phones. Where do I start? If you could please refer me to online tutorials.

Well, this is not simple java.
If you know some thing about java, i mean , you know something about java programming.
Then, you need to start J2ME, this is java edition for small devices.
Why is that, because , a micro device like mobile phone,PDA have limited resources you can’t compare them with normal desktop applications.
They have limited:
Memory
Processing Power
Screen Size
RAM size

than the mobile phones that are around today.Also does anybody out there know what the sony ericcson k800i is like?Can anyone recommend this phone?I’m looking for one that will last for a long time & is reliable.I’m not in to things like sat nav,cameras,internet etc.I’d never use the features.All i need is a good quality reliable,long lasting phone for talking & texting.

i always think the same thing! These days every phone has a protective case, a silicone skin, and a screen protector! Back in the old days you just chucked ur phone in ur pocket with your keys and it was fine! I do still think if you want a good quality solid phone nokia’s are the way to go…they do a good range of ‘classics’ that are lighter on features but concentrate on design, build quality and battery life…check them out!

My family is thinking of switching to a T-mobile family plus plan. The only problem is, since it’s not on a 2-yr contract, the phones are very expensive. Is there anywhere to get them cheaper, online or in a store, without agreeing to the contract?

Yes. A great place to go for phones, used or new is eBay. With T Mobile, you should be able to just put your sim card in your new phone. The only thing to really watch out for is, buy phones designated for T Mobile if you want to be positive it will work. Some phones from AT&T may work, as well as unlocked ones, but you’re safest with the "official" ones.
