A 3D camera would …
A 3D camera would just be 2 cameras, like it is here. If someone was to actually manufacture 2 cameras put together, i would imagine that they would be prone to problems. also, its important to be able to adjust the width between the cameras, which would cause it to end up with a similar set up as the one here.

Thanks very much …
Thanks very much for this info, I have been having trouble digging up this sort of knowledge.
About the camera sync and glasses colour (color) thats great info as well.
Here is a question, do the two cameras have to be set up pointing straight ahead, in this test they were but as it was a very quick test I feel my accuracy was a little out.?

Brilliant tutorial …
Brilliant tutorial for newcomers
clapper board is great for Sync but will not necessarily give you the best (this is for later when you want more pro sync) the pros use two genlocked cameras.. however if you have two Sony prosumer cams with LANC then you can use a dual lanc controller such as Lanc shepherd. or Stefra-Lanc (google them)
4 inches is good spacing, not that bad at all! one last thing. the glasses looked red-blue to me. You need Red-Cyan to give you more colors when vieweing.
