    Our film-making …
Our film-making technology has evolved so much since Vertov, and quite a bit since Koyaanisqatsi too. I think our culture has gotten more extreme as well. I’d love to see a similar movie made nowadays, because when you have a movie without narrative or speech the visual quality is incredibly important. I’d also like to see a more global version. Vertov only filmed in Russia and Koyaanisqatsi was all American. I’d like to see a mix of most of the major nations around the world.

I think one’s preference depends on which version one saw first. This is the soundtrack version I heard first and So I prefer this one over the other one as it just doesn’t sound right to me.

    Similar to the way …
Similar to the way in which Shakespeare would most probably not have thought up anything close to the soundtrack of Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo + Juliet, though that is also a corker and would most definitely all over Shakespeare’s ideas no matter weather its true his vision or not.

    Nope, the Alloy …
Nope, the Alloy Orchestra composed it. if you read it says ‘following the musical instructions written by Vertov’. But if on the other hand you are more cleverly going for the point that Vertov intended the music to be this way (which i dont think you are considering you said ‘composed’) i would have to say it is besides the point mibifinalist made, that he and my self believe the Cinematic Orchestra make Vertovs film arguably better than even he could imagine.

    Love the film, but …
Love the film, but the cinematics add much more to it than the alloy. The cinematic orchestra’s underscore adds a modern feel to the film, whereas i can hear a lot of bach in this interpretation. I don’t feel it contributes to the film’s mood and vivid imagery at all.
