What are the cameras used for that are mounted on top of intersection lights?

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

I'm not talking about the "red light cameras". I'm talking about the cameras that are mounted on top of the lights at intersections.
Please read the question people: I'm not talking about the obvious cameras that take a picture of you if you run a red light. I'm talking about the simple cameras mounted on top of the lights at intersections.

I DID read the question and those cameras mounted on top of the lights at intersections ARE for catching you if you run a red light. And will be used if there is an accident at that intersection.

We have them here even in little "ole" Maine.

what is the diffrence between mini dv video cameras and dv video cameras?

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

what is the diffrence between mini dv video cameras and dv video cameras?
i mean how they differ how far the quality will be good in mini dv when compared to dv?

The main difference is the size of the tape. They are both Digital Video and the quality is about the same.

Digital Video (DV) is a digital video format launched in 1995, and, in its smaller tape form factor MiniDV, has since become a standard for home and semi-professional video production; it is sometimes used for professional purposes as well, such as filmmaking and electronic news gathering (ENG). The DV specification (originally known as the Blue Book, current official name IEC 61834) defines both the codec and the tape format.

Though originally intended for the consumer market as a high-quality replacement for VHS, L-size DV cassettes are largely nonexistent in the consumer market, and are generally used only in professional settings. Even in professional markets, most DV camcorders support only MiniDV, though many professional DV VTRs support both sizes of tape.

Sony's DVCAM is a professional variant of the DV standard that uses the same cassettes as DV and MiniDV, but transports the tape 33% faster.

Panasonic specifically created the DVCPRO family for electronic news gathering (ENG) use, with better linear editing capabilities and robustness. It has an even greater track width of 18 micrometres and uses another tape type (Metal Particle instead of Metal Evaporated).

How can I find mobile phones wholesalers?

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

I want export mobile phones from the UK to Asia, how can I find the wholesalers? How can I claim the taxes paid in the UK?

Hi

I recommend this site http://wholesale.50webs.org/ , they have up to 90% off retail prices. This is the best place to go for start ups too, as there are low minimum order quantities and thousands of suppliers listed to choose from. They have wholesalers, clearance stockists and dropshippers at this site from all around the world.

Hope this helps
:)

What is the maximum number of laptops i can run from a single 13a socket?

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

I have been told that during meetings we are not allowed to link multiway extention leads together to power our laptops and hubs on the meeting room table. I thought that the laptop power adapters only draw a fraction of an amp as do the hubs so therefor you could connect quite a few and still not get to the 13A limit.

To over come this we've been told to only connect one multiway adapter to the wall socket, but as the building is quite old it only has a few doulbe sockets so we would have to run the extension leads in from adjecent rooms, Why can't you buy 6 way extension leads with a 10m or 15m lead?

I now this seems a bit silly but modern health and saftey laws are getting very strict.

By the way the maximum number of laptops and hubs i need to connect would be about 60/70 and at present this is split across 4 double 13A sockets

Any advise welcomed.

Your company is obliged to stick to the line that health and safety lay down. That line is you may not daisychain multiway blocks…

But there is nothing stopping you getting 8-way or 16-way blocks made up with long leads PROVIDING the wiring and fusing is rated to limit it to 13A draw.

Work it out… a laptop is probably under 100watts, you can draw nearly 3Kwatt from a 13A socket… but Health and Safety think you may go plug 30 kettles into your daisychained multiways and cause a fire.

Video Surveillance Technology Explained - a Primer

Monday, December 29th, 2008

The technology in video surveillance equipment is used in many ways for the advantage of society as a whole. The technology is used to investigate, among other things, the workload amongst pilots and air-traffic controllers, assessment of driver reactions to warning devices at railroad crossings, and studies of the performance of sleep-deprived locomotive engineers, just to name a few. The equipment includes video cameras, digital video recorders, digital video cameras, and CCTV [closed circuit TV] video cameras.

Events such as the 9-11 terrorist attack in the United States of America and the ever present threat of more terror attacks has resulted in video surveillance equipment becoming more popular than any time before.

This equipment and technology is used in various different portions of society including government agencies, security agencies, companies and businesses, schools, and public and private transportation vehicles.

Video surveillance apparatus is also a welcomed technology in places where around the clock human supervision is needed but not viable. As an example, the New York City Transit system [including the subway, tunnel and bridge authorities] uses video surveillance equipment for monitoring below ground traffic and stations.

There are many components to video surveillance equipment technology such as cameras, software, digital image cameras, infrared sensors, monitors and so on.

Surveillance technology has become an invaluable apparatus for business when it is correctly used. It can lessen the liability and workers’ compensation premiums. It can help identify fraudulent insurance claims, and may help in the deterrence and apprehension of dishonest workers and customers. Present-day technology by the way of computer networks and the Internet additionally provides the capability to observe a business concern remotely from home or other locations.

There are many varieties of cameras and digital video recorders made for a variety of applications. Examples of these are entrance and exit cameras, cash register and counter cameras, internal cameras, outdoor cameras, etc. along with digital video recorders [DVRs] and [VCRs] are the main components of a digital video surveillance system.

Prices for the equipment standard for a four camera digital video recording system for a small retail or office type business can cost at least several thousands of dollars plus the cost of labor of installation. As you might expect medium, large and project level businesses will need to spend proportionately more to satisfy their individual security requirements.

Whatever expenses incurred in buying video surveillance equipment merits the effort and expense. This is because this technology not only reduces the cost of security but also helps in curbing crime and vandalism. There are very few companies, which do not use video surveillance equipment for some purpose or the other. Total sales in video surveillance technology are on the increase. They will continue to do so due to the effectiveness and versatility of this technology.
